FAQs
Is pre-marital counseling required?
No.
How much are we allowed to customize the ceremony?
Ultimately, the ceremony is yours to cherish and enjoy. Although the State of Oregon requires a few legal disclosures in the ceremony vows, the rest is entirely up to you!
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely! Please see the above reference.
Will you marry us even if we are not current members of a congregation?
Certainly. I understand that not every couple shares the same faith. No matter what faith you may follow, Your Wedding Day Your Way, will be sensitive and accomodating to your needs.
If we are of different faiths, or one of us is not religious, is that a problem?
No. Multicultural weddings are more than welcome! I enjoy sharing and learning about different cultural procedures in regards to weddings.
Will our non-religious friends be allowed to participate in the ceremony, including giving readings, singing, or anything else?
Ceremonies should be enjoyed with friends and family no matter what faith they follow. I welcome them with open arms!
How much do you charge for your services?
Services typically cost between $50 and $150. All costs include 50 miles round trip from my location to the venue, unlimited communication time via phone and or email, unlimited editing of vows, Officiant time, and hand delivery of the completed paperwork that is required by Officiants to the local clerks office.
Do you travel outside of the Treasure Valley?
Yes. Travel to the venue site within 50 miles round trip is included in the Officiant fee. Additional travel may require an increased fee. These fees will be disclosed upon the request of services.
Do you have proof that you are legally able to reside over wedding ceremonies?
Yes, as a matter of a fact I do. I would be more than happy to present my certificate of ordination upon request.
Can you reside over ceremonies outside of the state of Idaho/Oregon?
Generally yes. For specific information and requirements, contacting the city or county clerk within the locale in which the ceremony will take place would be necessary.
Are you able to reside over ceremonies outside of the United States?
Each country treats ordinations differently. For further information, or to find out about the requirements of recognition, contacting the local officials would be necessary.
How soon will we need to book our date?
I would advise to inquire about availability as soon as possible as it is first come first serve. Dates fill up quickly and can be booked up to 12 months in advance.
What are your policies regarding deposits?
A deposit of 50% is required to reserve your special day. Remaining costs must be received 30 days prior to the event. Elopements or last minute ceremonies must be paid with cash or money order made payable directly to the Officiant.
Can we meet with you in person before we make our decision?
Absolutely. Please use the contact form to send an email with a few dates and times that are convenient for you. Be sure to include your contact information. I will call or send you an email confirming which date and time works for me so that we may meet to discuss the options for your wedding.
If one of us was married before but is now legally divorced, will you marry us?
Absolutely. Civil Ceremonies allow divorced couples to legally wed.
We have children, can you incorporate them into the vows?
Yes. It is a pleasure to incorporate family into the vows.
Do you come to the rehearsal?
It is recommended, but not required.
How long do you stay after the ceremony?
Typically, I part ways once the ceremony has been concluded and you're announced as husband and wife. However, I will gladly stay for photographs and introductions if you wish. I'm scheduled for up to 60 minutes of Officant time; however, depending on my schedule, I may enjoy the entire reception if you request.
Do you wear traditional robe or will you dress in "civilian" attire?
I will wear professional "civilian" attire that is appropriate for a wedding ceremony. It will not be anything that is low cut, revealing, wholy, ripped or stained.
We want an outdoor ceremony but we're concerned about the weather, what do we do if it rains?
Good Question! Since the weather can sometimes be unpredictable it is recommended to hire a tent company to protect you and your guests or have a back up venue that is indoors. Contact the venue coordinator and ask about rain policies. If you must relocate the ceremony last minute, call me as soon as possible and I will be happy to relocate.
What are your photography and videography policies?
You are more than welcome to do one or both. Videography and Photography services will not hinder the ceremony. I welcome any and all recorded memories of the occasion. Your Wedding Day Your way has an affiliation with a few photographers that may be able to assist with any needs you may have. If you're looking for a photographer for your special day, please let me know and I would be happy to share their contact information.
Why did you become ordained?
Truthfully I became ordained because when I was looking for an officiant for my wedding there weren't many to choose from. Those that I spoke to charged what I thought was a ridiculous amount. I was shocked to hear the cost and was discouraged. I didn't think we'd ever find someone that was affordable and fit "our style". I figured that by becoming ordained, I could help others that might be in the same or similar situation that I myself was once in.
